Listeners call for a 24 hour presence at the station! July 30th
With the recent firing of Robert Knight, we have called for a 24 hour presence at WBAI! We will be at the station, until the 16th of August, which is the date Utrice Leid gave as the return of Robert Knight on the WBAI news. However, his program 'Earthwatch' has been canceled. Click here for more.

Please join our brothers and sisters in solidarity for our station - come down to 'the belly of the beast' 120 Wall Street and join us! If you would like to just drop on by, by all means - expect to see us with candles, banners, a lot of spirit and of course a radio tuned to 99.5!

If you cannot make it right now, please let us now what time and day is good for you, by using the form to the right. Please leave your contact information, as well as your ideal time. Remember, whether you're an early bird, or over nighter, we need to fill the whole day, so any time that is good for you, is good for us - just let us know so we can plan accordingly!

Participate in the DAILY VIGIL at the Station
Weekdays, 120 Wall Street, 4:30 - 6:00 PM

Call vigil coordinator Paul Surovell, at 973-762-3115
or email us with the form below

A daily vigil is held outside WBAI offices at 120 Wall Street, Monday through Friday from 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM. We have placards, flyers, and sometimes banners, demanding the reinstatement of the fired and banned, and an end to censorship at WBAI. The vigil is attended by 2-6 people at a time. It's small and low-key, but persistent and highly visible.

To help out with the daily vigil, please fill out and send this form.

Our presence is known to staff members on both sides of the issue. We greet Amy Goodman and her producers and other staff opposed to the Christmas coup, as well as those who have sided with management. We even had a brief encounter with the interim station manager. The vigil provides excellent opportunities for us to get our message to all those who work in the station. We also have positive relations with building employees from other offices, many of whom have expressed support for our cause and admiration for our commitment and dedication.

We need additional support from those Concerned Friends who are not currently involved in the vigil, and we also welcome new faces to the struggle. Please contact vigil coordinator, Paul Surovell, to let us know when you can attend. You will enjoy yourself while having an impact on the struggle to Save WBAI.

Tell WBAI and Pacifica: Stop the Censorship, Reinstate Fired Producers

In recent days, WBAI Interim Station Manager Utrice Leid has escalated her attacks on free speech. On Monday, she intruded on Ken Nash's program Building Bridges: Your Community and Labor Report, yanked both him and Congressman Major Owens off the air for their criticism of WBAI's repression of free speech (and for Ken's statement denouncing the unjustified firing and banning of co-host Mimi Rosenberg), and canceled the program.

In addition, Ms. Leid barred Amy Goodman from co-hosting the morning program (eight years after co-founding the program with Bernard White) and removed Robert Knight as morning news anchor. Ms. Leid also reprimanded Knight for airing on Earthwatch (Wed. into Thurs. from midnight - 1:30) a tape of statements and protests at the Pacifica National Board meeting in Houston and an interview with Board member John Murdock.

Finally, Ms. Leid demanded that Bill Weinberg, CO-host of The Moorish Orthodox Radio Crusade (Tues. into Wed. from midnight - 1:30) with Ann-Marie Hendrickson, provide her with a tape of their show from Tuesday, March 6, 2001 that included criticism of station and network policy.
